You don’t need to know the vocabulary. You just need to know what you’re trying to accomplish. Pick the door that sounds most like you.
“I own a business — how does the exit work?”
You’re thinking about selling, stepping back, or transitioning to family or staff. The retirement plan, the tax bill, and the timing all interact.
Who we work with
“Most of my net worth is in company stock.”
RSUs, options, ESPP, or a deferred compensation plan. You want to know when to sell, how to spread the tax, and how much to keep.
Who we work with
“Can I actually retire?”
You have a pension, some savings, maybe a 401(k) or IRA. You want to know if the math works — and when.
Retirement planning
“What do I do with this PERS decision?”
You have a lump sum vs. monthly benefit choice in front of you and the deadline is real.
Who we work with
“Is an annuity a good idea for me?”
Someone mentioned annuities. You want the honest version of what they are, what they cost, and when they make sense.
Annuities explained
“How do I keep this from becoming my kids’ problem?”
You’re more worried about long-term care and being a burden than about market returns.
Insurance & LTC
“I just want a second opinion.”
You already have an advisor or a plan. You want a review without being pitched to move everything.
Financial advising
“I want to learn first.”
No meeting yet. You just want good, free, plain-English information.

What actually happens when you reach out
Step 1 — A 15-minute fit call
Short, informal. I ask what prompted you to look and whether the timing makes sense. If it doesn’t, I’ll say so.
Step 2 — A working session
About an hour. Bring your pension or PERS statement, Social Security estimate, and any accounts you have. We go through them together.
Step 3 — A written summary
Plain English. Income sources, the risks I see, the options in front of you, and what I’d do in your position.
What I won’t do
- Rush you into a product on the first call
- Use fear about the market to move your money
- Talk over your head and call it “complexity”
- Charge you for a plan and then disappear
If you’d rather just send a question than book a meeting, that’s completely fine.
